Reminder : Please Save Your iOS 5.1.1 SHSH Blobs Now!!!

Dear Ladies & Gentleman,

Please save your iOS 5.1.1 SHSH blobs now, before Apple ceases signing the firmware.
Knowing this version can be jailbroken untethered, it’s important you archive the SHSH blobs for safekeeping, incase you should wish to downgrade at sometime in the future. A downgrade is usually possible so long as you have the blobs saved, and if you don’t keep them in time, you’ll never be able to downgrade to that jailbreakable firmware version.

Theres is two popular application can extract as well as save your SHSH Blobs. The reliable TinyUmbrella and also iSHSHit 1.1.0 (via your iPhone/iPad itself) that also compatible with iOS 5.1.1, and provides yet another simple way for you to save your blobs. Both are as simple to use as each other

Update to iOS 5.1.1 for Upcoming Untethered Jailbreak

The upcoming iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak release is imminent. It’s so close we can almost smell it.

For that reason, it would be wise to go ahead and analyse your current situation, and prepare for the jailbreak.

It has been confirmed that the A5 portion of the jailbreak — the jailbreak for iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and the iPad 3 — will only support iOS 5.1.1.

While nothing has been said about A4 devices, it’s a good chance that iOS 5.1.1 will be required to jailbreak any device with the new Absinthe tool across the board.

So what should you do? Should you update your device now, or wait until the jailbreak has been officially released?

Regardless of what you decide to do, I highly advise you to head over and download the iOS 5.1.1 firmware for all of the devices you plan to jailbreak. Go ahead and save the iOS 5.1.1 firmware to a place that you can easily identify later.

The next thing I recommend doing is further analyzing your situation. If you have a new iPad (iPad 3), go ahead and update now to iOS 5.1.1. This makes sense, because this is an A5 device, and there isn’t a preexisting jailbreak for the new iPad anyway.

If you have an iPhone 4S, or an iPad 2, it’s a more calculated judgement call. If you’re already jailbroken on either of these devices running iOS 5.0.1, then you may decide to hold off until the new jailbreak is released. Otherwise, you would temporarily lose your jailbreak until Absinthe 2.0 is officially released.

You could also decide that you don’t care about being on iOS 5.1.1, or that you don’t want to be on iOS 5.1.1 for various reasons. Keep in mind that a lot of the time it takes a while for every new tweak to be updated to support the latest firmware. The good news is that iOS 5.1.1 isn’t an astronomical upgrade like going from iOS 4.3.3 to iOS 5.0, so compatibility problems shouldn’t be a gargantuan issue.

If, however, you recently purchased an iPhone 4S or an iPad 2 preinstalled with iOS 5.1, then go ahead and update to iOS 5.1.1.

If you have an A4 device: iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th generation, etc. then it’s really up to you. Hopefully you’ve been proactive in saving your SHSH blobs, so you can always downgrade to previous firmware. iOS 5.1.1 is already jailbreakable (tethered) on iOS 5.1.1 for A4 devices, so chances are you may already have iOS 5.1.1 on your A5 device.
Regardless of your situation, the jailbreak — barring any unforeseen hiccups — should be released this week. Even if you were to be without a jailbreak for a few days, even the most hardcore jailbreaker can usually manage a few days without his or her favorite tweak.

Whatever you decide to do, please, please, please save your SHSH blobs. It never hurts, and you just never know when those will come in handy.

Redsn0w Can Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 On iPhone, iPad, iPod touch (A4 Devices)

Redsn0w Can Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 On iPhone, iPad, iPod touch (A4 Devices) [How-To-Tutorial]

By | May 7th, 2012
Apple is clearly cracking the productivity whip in their iOS team offices and have wasted no time at all in producing and pushing out an update to their mobile operating system, taking the latest version to 5.1.1. While the latest release might offer some additional features, standard bug fixes and security patches, it also serves to keep the jailbreak development teams on their toes by forcing them to push an update where appropriate for their tools.
ios 511 jailbreak iphone ipad ipod touch
We have tested and can confirm that current latest version of Redsn0w jailbreaking tool can be used to jailbreak Apple’s latest iOS offering tethered on A4 powered devices such as iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G and below, thus allowing you to have continued access to all of the benefits of a liberated iOS Device. This has also been confirmed by MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev-Team. We are carrying on our tradition of being reliable when it comes to all things Apple and jailbreak, by bringing you a step by step method on jailbreaking your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on iOS 5.1.1 using Redsn0w.
How to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 using Redsn0w
Step 1: Download the latest version of the iPhone Dev Team’s Redsn0w tool for your operating system (Windows / Mac).
Step 2: Not a requirement, but it is always good practice to connect the device to iTunes and perform a backup of the contents. Alternatively, users can opt to back up the device to iCloud if enabled.
Step 3: After the backup is complete, upgrade the device’s firmware to iOS 5.1.1. Users can choose to either do this via an OTA update on the device, or by plugging the device onto your PC or Mac, firing up iTunes and accepting and installing the update, or by downloading the iOS 5.1.1 device-specific firmware file and doing a manual install through iTunes.
Step 4: Download the iOS 5.1 (not iOS 5.1.1) IPSW file that corresponds to the specific device you are using.
Step 5: Locate the Redsn0w download folder from Step 1, unzip the contents and run the executable file to launch Redsn0w.
Redsn0w latest update
Step 6: Select ‘Extras’ on the Redsn0w GUI and the choose the ‘Select IPSW’ option.
Screenshot (19)
Step 7: When prompted, point to IPSW file from Step 4 (which is iOS 5.1) and select it.
Step 8: On the main home screen of Redsn0w, select ‘Jailbreak’ and then make sure the ‘Install Cydia’ option is selected before proceeding.
Step 9: The on-screen prompts will now walk you through the process to put the device into DFU mode. This is a requirement for the jailbreak process to be successful. Make sure to follow all steps carefully.
Step 10: When DFU mode is detected, Redsn0w will automate the rest of the process on-screen before finishing off on the device. During the process, it is entirely normal to see white lines of text scrolling down the device’s screen. When the device reboots, the jailbreak process is complete which should be evident by the presence of the Cydia icon on the home screen.
Since this is a tethered jailbreak, you will have to boot your device into tethered boot mode on every restart. You can do this by launching Redsn0w, select "Extras", then"Just Boot" in order to boot your device tethered.
Cydia5.1.1
You are now free to feel extremely smug knowing that you are using a jailbroken device, even though Apple have tried their very best to prevent it. The setup process of Cydia is extremely easy, with on-screen prompts guiding users through the process. After the data is done reloading and the Cydia app restarts, it will be ready to use.

Pod2g Has Managed To Jailbreak iPhone 4 Untethered On iOS 5.1

In a day which has been dominated by the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S III, a little jailbreak update has just come in via Twitter. Pod2g, one of the most influential members of the Cydia community, has revealed that he today managed to jailbreak his iPhone 4 untethered on iOS 5.1.
During the last couple of weeks of 2011, and subsequently the first few weeks of this year, iOS users were treated to two fantastic jailbreaks in the form of Corona – which catered to the older, A4 devices – and Absinthe, which followed on with an untethered solution for the dual-core iPad 2 and iPhone 4S devices.
iPhone 4 jailbreak untethered
As soon as Apple releases an update though, and particularly when said update is accompanied by a new device, the slate is almost wiped clean for the various dev teams, who have to trudge back to the proverbial drawing board and begin to pick holes in iOS once again. Pod2g has been one of the busier exploiters as of late, having discovered two significant vulnerabilities only a few days ago, and has apparently put that good work into practice by jailbreaking his iOS 5.1-running iPhone 4 – fully untethered.
Pod2g 5.1 jailbreak iPhone 4
No other details have been revealed, nor were any screenshots provided, so we’re just taking Pod2g’s word for it for the foreseeable. Moreover, just because one device has been jailbroken, it doesn’t mean a utility is imminent for public release, so we’ll await further word from Pod2g before forecasting a potential release time frame.
Being massive jailbreak fans here at Redmond Pie, we want to see all devices jailbroken untethered so every iOS user can reap the benefits of the many apps and tweaks from within the Cydia store. Unfortunately, it’s not an easy process, and it can often border on the agonizing for those accustomed to scores tweaks helping to tailor the iOS experience.
iOS 5.1
With 3 million already sold, there will be plenty of new iPad users hoping to jailbreak their devices in order to see what benefits Cydia can bring to their Retina-displaying, iSight-shooting, quad-core graphics-toting device. After seeing the Quasar app delightfully bringing true multitasking to the iPad a few days back, we’d love to see what it would look like on that crisper display.
So while the owners of new A5 and A5X devices such as iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and the new iPad will have to wait for the new tool to be made available, those of you who have A4 devices and below (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS etc.) can use Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze for tethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1.
We’ll keep you posted with any more updates, so stay tuned!

Galaxy S III vs iPhone 4S vs Lumia 900

Galaxy S III vs iPhone 4S vs Lumia 900 – The Comparison Between The Titans

With Samsung having only just announced the juicy details of its Samsung Galaxy S III, it arguably takes pride of place as the poster child of Android (sorry, HTC One X), thus instantly drawing comparisons with the flagship devices of the two other major mobile ecosystems.
Although Windows Phone isn’t really established just yet, the fact it is being developed by Microsoft – allied to the amount of hype being generated regarding Windows 8 – means it has to be mentioned. The iPhone 4S – Apple’s Siri-wielding, dual-core smartphone – was released back in October, and completes the trio.
GALAXY S III Product Image (5)_W
As the newest of the bunch, it’s unsurprising that, on paper, the Galaxy S III trounces both the iPhone 4S and Lumia 900 in almost every category. As we know, however, battles aren’t fought on paper, and both the 4S and the Lumia have their fair share of advantageous aspects over the newest arrival to the smartphone spectrum.
The Lumia is a beautiful looking device, but has so many shortcomings, and with companies like Samsung happy to pump in premium-level hardware left, right, and center, it looks more than a little light on the tick-sheet.
All three devices have identically-matched cameras, but as we know, the number of “megapixels” seldom tells the full story, and although we haven’t seen much of the Galaxy S III’s camera just yet, we’d expect it to be pretty nifty – especially given the device’s mahusive, 4.8-inch, Super AMOLED HD display.
Despite its large inventory of features, Samsung’s third Galaxy S device is the lightest of the three, weighing just 133 grams. Although a device with a near 5-inch display is designed to be out and in people’s faces than squirreled away in the pocket, it’s lighter weight means if you ever manage to find a pocket big enough, you it won’t drag you down to your knees.
The iPhone 4S is the smallest in terms of of height and width, although is slightly thicker than the Galaxy S III. Then again, what iPhone users gain in compact design is compromised by the fact the screen is now quite a way behind that of its competitors in terms of size. Although the next iPhone, we gather, will indeed include a larger LCD, it’s worth remembering that the current pixel density is superior to that of both the S III and the Lumia, so boasts quality where bereft in quantity.
GSIII iPhone4S Lumia900

Capture
To wrap it up, although the Samsung Galaxy S III is the clear winner when it comes to tech specs, it’s unlikely to stop consumers from buying iPhones or Lumias anytime soon. Apple is continuing to sell tens of millions of its latest and greatest device, with the Lumia also gaining a strong following. Alas, it’s been well documented that Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has been heaping praise on the Lumia this week, and with Windows 8 not too far away, who knows what impact Microsoft could have over the next year and beyond.
Thoughts?
